Womanity Portrait Foundation is seeking committed board members who believe in the power of art, portrait photography, and community connection to support women affected by breast cancer.

Our board members help guide the organization’s growth, strengthen its programs, build community relationships, and secure the resources needed to expand our impact. We are looking for people who bring professional experience, thoughtful leadership, and a genuine commitment to our mission.

Board members are expected to participate in board meetings, support fundraising and outreach efforts, serve on at least one committee, and contribute approximately 8 hours per month.

Open Board Positions:

Director of Marketing

  • The Director of Marketing & Communications leads efforts to increase awareness of Womanity Portrait Foundation, its programs, and its impact throughout San Diego County and beyond.
  • This board member helps shape the organization’s public voice and develops strategies to promote our portrait photography programs, self-portrait workshops, wellness retreats, exhibitions, fundraising campaigns, and participant stories. Responsibilities may include supporting website content, email communications, social media, media outreach, public relations, and community campaigns.
  • The Director will also help create clear and respectful ways to share the stories of women affected by breast cancer while protecting their dignity and privacy.
  • The ideal candidate has experience in marketing, communications, public relations, branding, digital media, or storytelling. Experience working with nonprofits, healthcare, the arts, or women-centered organizations is helpful but not required.

Director of Development & Fundraising

  • The Director of Development & Fundraising helps build sustainable financial support for Womanity Portrait Foundation and its programs.
  • This board member leads the development of fundraising strategies, donor engagement, sponsorship opportunities, grant support, and community fundraising campaigns. The role includes helping establish annual fundraising goals, identifying potential donors and funders, strengthening donor relationships, and supporting the creation of compelling sponsorship and fundraising materials.
  • The Director may also help develop earned-income opportunities that support the organization’s mission and reduce its dependence on grants alone.
  • The ideal candidate has experience in fundraising, philanthropy, nonprofit development, sales, business strategy, grant development, or donor relations. The strongest candidate will be comfortable building relationships and introducing the organization to potential supporters.

Director of Community Partnerships & Outreach

  • The Director of Community Partnerships & Outreach builds relationships that connect Womanity Portrait Foundation with women affected by breast cancer and the organizations that support them.
  • This board member develops partnerships with hospitals, oncology centers, breast cancer organizations, wellness providers, community groups, arts organizations, museums, businesses, and public agencies. The Director helps identify opportunities for participant referrals, program collaborations, exhibitions, donated services, venues, sponsorships, and community outreach.
  • The role also includes representing Womanity Portrait Foundation at selected community events and helping recruit volunteers and professional partners for programs.
  • The ideal candidate is outgoing, relationship-focused, and comfortable networking across healthcare, nonprofit, arts, and business communities. Experience in community engagement, partnership development, healthcare outreach, social services, or nonprofit leadership is especially valuable.
