Healing through portrait photography is at the heart of our mission at the Womanity Portrait Foundation. We’re proud to share that the Times of San Diego has published a feature on our breast cancer portrait project—highlighting how healing-centered photography helps survivors reclaim identity and self-worth.
I call it visual medicine, because our work goes far beyond the image. At the Womanity Portrait Foundation, we offer fine-art portrait sessions that support women with breast cancer in reclaiming their beauty, identity, and personal power after a life-altering diagnosis.
Through this lens of art therapy and breast cancer recovery, our work becomes more than photography—it becomes a tool for healing, reflection, and reconnection. Each session in our breast cancer portrait project is a journey toward self-worth, visibility, and wholeness.

Why This Breast Cancer Portrait Project Matters
There are over 4 million breast cancer survivors in the U.S.—many of whom carry lasting emotional and physical scars. Traditional support often focuses on medical treatment and survival. Our work centers on the emotional healing that comes afterward—a deeply overlooked part of the journey.
With the support of our donors and partners, the Womanity Portrait Foundation provides free and low-cost portrait experiences to women recovering from breast cancer, including those living with metastatic breast cancer.

Gratitude
Special thanks to Chris Jennewein, Elizabeth Ireland, and the entire team at Times of San Diego for shining a light on this work. And to every woman who has stood in front of my lens with courage and grace—you are the reason this foundation exists.
